High-tech bird-watching is a sort of overview article about the use of technology in birding.

Expect to see lots of these kinds of articles in the future, as well as the debate over whether or not the gadgets sully the birding experience. (It’s an debate that’s gone on internally for me often enough!). There’s something to be said for both sides of the argument, but I think the best thing to do is to experiment and see what gives you the greatest joy in birding. (And thank god we have access to optics and photo equipment now, a nice technological step up from the shot gun favored by naturalists of an earlier era!)
